The arrival in Townsville

We both were a little bit destroyed by tiny sandflies that left ´dozens of itchy spots! Even worse than mozzys!

Yeah!!!! Kathi and Thorsten made their way to Townsville!

They reunion of the two ex-flatmates Eva and Kathi was an emotional moment!

The journey of the swiss cheesy-mice

It was a long, exhausting way for our friends Kathi and Thorsten (the swiss cheesy-mice)...

... to get from Basel to Townsville. Kathi was almost arrested in Hong Kong for her illegal possession of tear gas!

Holy shit!

That was the reason why they had to sleep another night at the airport in Hong Kong.

But finally they made their way over Sydney and Brisbane to Townsville. One night in the airport of Brisbane included!

But Australia welcomed them with open arms! Thanks so much that you have been so brave and persistent and withstood all that trouble to visit us in Down Under!!

The Great Barrier Reef - The biggest living object of our world!!!

Special species of fish: Jorakel.

and the hairy Efish.

Only one word: Gigantic! The Bait Reef is only one small part of the 2500km long Great Barrier Reef.

The hairy Efish again.

Our boat.

One of our underwater mates.

Warmin up after an hour of snorkeling in the 20° cold Pacific Ocean.

Eva and Rose from Berlin in the hot pot.

Captain Cook alias Sam watching out for ice mountains.

The sea was rough and Jo had fun and Eva was feeding the fish. By the way fish: The most impressive thing were the wales we saw from the boat. Unfortunately we had never had a camera available.

Sailing tour to the Great Barrier Reef

Beginning of August we went on a three-day sailing tour from Airlie Beach to the Great Barrier Reef. Our ship was called "Wings".

Our first amazing destination: the Whitehaven Beach on the Whitsunday Island!

We were part of a group with around 20 people. Most of the people (besides the crew) came from Europe or Canada except Sheepie from Hong Kong.

"Sommer, Palmen, Sonnenschein, was kann schöner sein?"

..."mit dir allein kann es noch viel viel schöner sein!"

Sebastian (?) from UK, Jo from Weißenbrunn and Alan from Norway on the rocks

Eva - Queen of the sea

Flying vegemite

Some guys needed three of them, because it was freezing cold. One guy thought one suit is enough, and had a bad cold one week after.

Eungella National Park

Beautiful weather and a nice short walk in the Eungella National Park...

View from Eungella

What a pitty: the flowers are only artificial. Nevertheless a reminder to bavarian landscape.

The sugarcane country! Wherever you look...everywhere are sugarcane fields in this part of Queensland. The sugarcane is transported in funny looking trains on rails ending in the nowhere.

What we did the last seven weeks - part VI - we said goodbye to Springsure

Lyn was cleaning all the cabins of the caravan park. She is a "sunshine" lady from Tasmania.

That was a saying on the caravan of Lyn and Dess. I think this speaks for itself.

Mr. Homebrew alias Dess the husband of Lyn.

Jake and Nicole a couple from the Gold Coast. He started to work in a mine near Emerald and lives at the moment in the caravan park. She is studying and will be soon a teacher.

Good bye Springsure! All in all it was a nice time with great people around!
