Malaysia - impressions from Cherating, Puala Perhentian and the jungle railway

In our lodge in Cherating (east coast of Malaysia) we had a lot of pets...

A frog in the shower...

...exotic birds in our "garden"

And too many mosquitoes! But this smoking coil drove them back...

With all these funny noises, animals, humidity and hot temperatures, we almost felt as we were already in the jungle.

All in all, the coconut inn (our accommodation) was a very nice place to stay. The owner was chatting with us every day and gave us a special discount, as we are "backpackers".

Our next destination was Puala Perhentain. A beautiful island with nice beaches and a lot of new experiences for us: one day we were snorkeling and saw reef sharks, a big water turtle, colorful corals and fish... WOW!! It's a pity that we didn't have our underwater camera at this time :-(
The next day we were scuba diving (12 meters under water) and saw "Nemos", corals...

The restaurant of our accommodation was almost flooded in the evenings, because the monsoon time was close.

Our lodge from outside...
... and inside. We decided to put up our tent because of mosquitos, cockroaches (Kakerlaken) etc.

After a few days on the island, we were heading to the jungle with the jungle railway. The air condition didn't really work in this train and so we were sweating for 8 hours... We were the only western people in the train, so everyone looked as us as we where out of another universe...

Impressions out of the train...
