Sierra de la Ventana

After Buenos Aires we went with the bus around 500km southwest to Sierra de la Ventana and stayed there for a couple of days at the "El Paraiso" campground. By the way: It´s more common to wash the cloth (ropa) in the sink than in a washing machine.

This campground had a lot of features! Especially the "hot water" (aqua caliente) was a pleasure.

It was time for a first short walk to a small hill next to Sierra de la Ventana. Jo had the first time a 5 minute dog. What is a 5 minute dog: In Argentina you can find heaps of stray dogs and sometimes one of those fellows will follow you for a while. We called it 5 minute dog.

The village lies within the green trees.

Happy Eva.

The church.

A nice ute from VW we don´t have in Germany: The Amarok. It´s a pretty new car from VW and you can find a lot in Argentina.

It looks a little bit like the Toyota Hilux.

In Australia you have the gas barbecue and in Argentina you can find a "parilla" nearly everywhere. Just bring some wood and coals, a good piece of beef and enjoy it!

The train station of Sierra de la Ventana. But there are only 6 trains per week. 3 to Bahia Blanca and 3 to Buenos Aires.

Addendum II: Dustmen at work in Buenos Aires

One thing that is very strange nearly everywhere in Argentina: There are no rubbish bins. Everybody just brings the rubbish in a plastic bag in front of the house and the dustmen come every day and collect the rubbish with the hands... And that in a very "effective" way. ;-)

Just have a look...

Addendum I: Our hostel in Buenos Aires

We stayed at the Ostinatto hostel in Buenos Aires (www.ostinatto.com). It was in the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires and was a nice place to stay. Especially the architecture was quite interesting.

Jo in the dining room.

Jo in the bathroom... Yes you could see everything from the kitchen area. But not the toilets and showers.

Buenos Aires - part III

Street market in San Telmo... We were surprised by the quality of the products... What a pitty, that we can´t carry any more things in our backpacks.

A church in San Telmo.

The activity plan of our hostel...

The biggest street of the world: Av 9 de Julio with all together 18 lanes!

Inside the Chacarita cemetry in Palermo....

The graves of the very rich people...

The graves of the very poor people...

Unbelievable!!!

The oldest building of BA

And the most important person for most Argentinian people: Eva Peron.

Buenos Aires - part II

An entry to the subway of BA.

Viva la vida could be the topic for this city...

Inside the shopping mall "Galerias Pacifico"

You can´t buy Mars, Snickers, Milky Way etc. but Milka everywhere!

In the rose garden of one of Palermo´s (a district of BA) parks.

The view from our hostel "Ostinatto" in San Telmo

Dinner time... We found a shop in BA that sells Gampert!!!!

Buenos Aires - part I

Finally we made it to Buenos Aires... It was a little bit hard to get with the bus from the airport into the center because it is very hard to get any coins in this city. And unfortunately you can pay your busticket only with coins. So we spent nearly an hour at the airport to organize some coins. Eventually we got some coins from a coke vending machine. But besides that Buenos Aires is a very nice and vibrant city. You could also think that you are in Rome.

After we were sleeping a long time we visited on our first day the district "La Boca" and walked past the football stadium of the Boca Juniors. Unfortunately there was no match during the time we were in BA. It must be a great atmosphere!

I (Jo) could imagine a nice looking Argentinian girl with this string...

Football everywhere in La Boca....

Caminito in La Boca... This mall is famous for the colourful houses and has some historical background. But don´t ask us.

Cable salad...

An Argentinian ute.

BA downtown near to Plaza de Mayo...

One week later in Sydney

Finally we made it one week later to Sydney. We spent two days in Sydney before we finally flew to Buenos Aires. In Sydney you could see everywhere preperations for the Australia day. Here a stall in the Hyde Park.

The two days we spent in Sydney it was raining, raining and again raining.

But we had fun...

The last picture we made in Australia in the Sydney Airport...

On the 26th of January (Australia Day) we had to leave after 446 days one of the best countries in the world!!!! We will miss the friendly people, the nature, the good food, the 4WDs, the utes with the dogs, the barbecues, the endless dirt roads, Triple J, the no worries, the how ya going mate, the vegemite, the stubby coolers, the eskies, the kangaroos, the bush, the sunsets and sunrises, the roof top tent, Bill (the rockmelon farmer), Simone and Scotty, Perth, the beef...

We will come back!!!!!!!!

The f.c.u.k.i.n.g. 800 dollar pictures

domestic airport Perth: 11:18pm

domestic airport Perth: 11:19pm

domestic airport Perth: 11:20pm

Our flight to Sydney was at 11:50pm. Half an hour is also for a domestic flight a little bit too short to check in. So we missed our flight to Sydney and so we missed also our flight to Argentina. So we had to book a new flight to Sydney and we had to rebook the flight to Perth. All together: ca. 800AUD.
Don´t ask why we arrived at the domestic airport so late. We all can´t tell you.

Why we took pictures of a "Gampert Schützenfest Bier" bottle? That´s top secret!!! You will see why in a couple of weeks in this blog.
The only thing we can tell you: This bottle was a Christmas present from Simone! Thank you so much again! She bought this bottle August 2011 in the E-Center in Kronach on her "Europe trip" from Würzburg to Scandinavia.
