Paso de Oveja - Sheep pass - part II

With perfect weather we went down again to the Valle de Andorra. The rest of the trail we were hiking together with a couple from Munich: Bärbel and Andi. They were real trekking specialists and we could learn a lot!

We were hiking trough dense forest...

...and after a while we reached the first unnatural lakes made by beavers. Beavers are not native in that area. They were introduced a long time ago because of there nice fur.

It´s amazing what those little animals are able to do.

The dams they build are sometimes gigantic.

Therefore the trail was sometimes heavily flooded and we had to climb and balance over trees. Here Andi followed by Eva.

The beaver's lodge: this one had four entrances, which normally lie under the water surface to protect the lodge. Such a huge lodge is usually built by only one male beaver, who lives together with his wife and children.
