Mongolia tour - day 6 part III - goat killing

In the evening the next highlight followed: Bayra our van driver killed a goat. Joram helped him to carry it to the "slaughterhouse" (Schlachthof) in front of the ger.
The killing of the goat was very different to the German way of killing animals: Two persons hold the goat on its back down to the ground. Then Bayra made a small cut in the chest of the living goat, put his arm into the goat and pulled out a big blood vessel near to the heart. After that the goat bled to death and was immediately dead.

Here you can see the Mongolian "Slaughterhouse".

The son of the family helped to slaughter the goat...

Bloody details!

The good meat was put in the "fridge" of the ger...

The result! Everything was used!

The boy had fun with the goat head...

Afterwards the women cleaned the bowels (Därme) and made sausages out of blood and lung. The rest of the inner parts were also prepared for dinner. You can´t imagine the stink in the ger!

While the women were working the men were watching a Mongolian wrestling show on TV

Our dinner this evening... It was much, much better than it looks here on the picture. Jo must commit that it tasted  better than any inner parts in Germany (for example liver from Schaschlik)
